ABOUT ME

Hey! Quick intro: I grew up skiing on a 300 foot hill in Ontario racing and skiing park as much as possible. I made the move to the Rockies at 18, then to Revelstoke shortly after. Now I juggle working full time as a Firefighter and skiing wherever the snow is deepest!

What MOMENT do you ski for?

Definitely skiing with my friends and those rowdy days chasing each other all over the mountain. Things get out of hand pretty quickly. Also love the feeling of standing on top of something that scares the $#!T out of you and making the decision to send it.

How do you recharge your batteries for the next challenge?

Hanging out with my dogs! I also love being outside no matter the activity. Surf trips are always a great way to break up a winter.

What’s your favorite quote? Why does this quote resonate with you?

I’m getting the maximum enjoyment out of life and I’ll never stop – Shane McConkey Great words to live by. If you’re not pushing yourself to have the most fun possible everyday, then you need to start!

How do you conquer difficult situations?

I’ve made a lot of mistakes, and I like to think that I learn from them. Every experience is a growing opportunity and helps build confidence in myself for future situations. Being self-confident is the biggest asset you can have.

What sacrifices have you had to make to get to where you are today and were they worth it?

I feel like I’ve been very fortunate and haven’t really had to sacrifice much, aside from the usual injuries / concussions and spending lots of time on the road away from family.

How does your mindset (or attitude) influence your performance?

When I ski I just try and find something that gets me stoked or motivated. Whether it be a big line, or just getting creative on a small feature you’ve been hitting all day. I’d say that my overall mindset is fairly similar. I’m always searching for that thing that will get me pumped up and feeling like I’ve progressed.

What do you do when you aren’t skiing?

I have a hard time sitting still. I love to mountain bike, fly fish, surf, hike, sled, spearfish, the list goes on and on… One of my biggest passions as of late is bowhunting Elk. It is single handedly the toughest and most rewarding thing I have ever done. Nothing like packing out an animal 8km (5 miles) by yourself, and then having that as your meals for the next 365.

What strategy do you use to overcome pressure and stress for optimum performance?

Coffee in the morning, Beer in the evening. Repeat.
