ABOUT ME

My Name is Armin Senoner and I am a professional skier, mountain guide and speedrider from Val Gardena (South Tyrol), Italy. Growing up in the heart of the Dolomites, I've been on skis since I can remember, and I was able to ski before I could walk. Starting so early gave me the chance to try many skiing disciplines. After several years of slalom racing, I discovered the world of freeskiing and experienced a whole different way of skiing. All this made my love for the mountains grow stronger and led me to become a mountain guide. Although guiding is a big responsibility, being in the mountains every day gives me enormous pleasure. Having acquired these guiding skills on the snow and rocks, my curiosity for something new grew bigger, so I tried speedriding. I now hold a world record in this skiing/flying sport by descending at 152,9 km/h from the 3859-meter high and majestic Königsspitze. This is what I have done so far but my goal is to go even further and experience many more adventures that life is offering.

What MOMENT do you ski for?

Probably for the best line! But growing older, I realize that the perfect line is just the cherry on the cake and since I love the whole cake, I also enjoy the journey to the top.

How do you recharge your batteries for the next challenge?

I try to enjoy every moment with my beloved family and friends at home. I spend my free time in the outdoors and this gives me good vibes and energy.

What sacrifices have you had to make to get to where you are today and were they worth it?

I have risked my life several times in my skiing and lifesaving mountaineering. I had to fight my own thoughts many times and was on my own to make the right decision at the right moment. Some challenges took me far from home for long periods of time, but all of this has paid off and I wouldn´t change a thing.

What do you do when you aren’t skiing?

I keep on preparing for next season in several ways. I love rock climbing outdoors, but I also enjoy indoor climbing walls. It gives me great satisfaction to reach the top and feel the hand holds with my bare hands.

What strategy do you use to overcome pressure and stress for optimum performance?

I try to calm myself down with my inner peace. Luckily, I manage that quite well, so even if I´m surrounded by people I can focus on my challenge or mission.
