zero g

We are inaugurating the 2022-23 winter season by introducing two brand new protagonists: the light Zero G LT ski and the equally light Zero G Peak ski boot.

Both products are designed for the most demanding skiers, such as ski mountaineering guides or ski touring enthusiasts looking for the maximum possible lightness.

Two years have passed since we conducted the first interview with the mountain guides focus group. It’s been a long story of trials, successes and also failures. A process of constant development – testing out on snow and in the lab. Now, following prototype after prototype, it’s finally time to put them to the ultimate test.

It’s mid-May and last month was pretty warm. For the right terrain to test the new Zero G 80 skis and the Zero G Peak boots, we look to mountains above 2,000 metres.

The Dolomites and Cortina offer ideal spots, such as the Sorapis glacier. After hours of climbing, the overall comfort and lateral support while traversing is already impressive.

After bad weather with a storm over the past few days, we get lucky – conditions look perfect. We skin up until the base of the Comici couloir. Here the face is too steep to ski and we use crampons and axes. The summit at 3,200 metres is always a great reward.

The new Zero G 80 and the Peak show us their downhill performance. We are all surprised and happy about the agility, support and feeling of precision and confidence they provide on difficult terrain.

We were expecting to find perfect snow in the couloir after the snowfall on Sunday, but the surface is surprisingly hard and technical. Going down the line, after some turns on steep terrain, the snow rapidly changes into what we might call “firm” condition.

As with any great day in the mountains, we finally relax over a cold beer. We exchange impressions about the tour and the products we tested. It’s time to transform these feelings into clear feedback for our R&D and designers.

Each small detail is perfected and transformed to deliver a state-of-the-art product. Passion, craftsmanship and intuition underpin everything that we do… and that’s why we are so proud of this project.
